There’s been a lot noise from the music industry in states about the next British music wave such artists as Mark Ronson, Sam Smith, Disclosure, and Tinie Tempah. Yet United Kingdom offers a staggering level of musical talent, which to some degree is warranted due U.K being transit hub for many of the world cultures. The multicultural mix of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, black Caribbean and black African influences on British music scene can be felt from the streets of east London to the radio ways in the form of BBC’s Asian Radio and BBC Radio 1. England’s reputation as a crossroads of musical styles can offer a diverse sound layered with current vibes to those with open ears. Here is a list of artist that are making waves in the United Kingdom but is less known here the States, but still worthy of mentioning.
First Artist to look out for is Hawk House hip-hop triumvirate whose lyrics, melodies, and vocals draw you in. Tracks like Hawk House – Chill Pill (Experiment 2) and Hawk House – Live-ation need more exposure. As many know, I’m a big Tribe called Quest fan, its far and few in between where I listening to group that bring that sensation when I first heard Low End Theory. Demae whose melodies blend and flow smoothly with Sam and Eman, that makes up the hip-hop triumvirate. Second Artist check out is Little Sims, She recently released her debut EP “E.D.G.E” which followed her fourth mixtape Blank Canvas that was released via JAY Z’s Life+Times website. Check out cuts like Devour, and Mandarin Oranges 1 & 2. The 20-year-old rapper Little Simz has rapid flow and bars, with the right kind of production she can definitely break out in the U.S. I can definitely see a feature along the lines of Childish Gambino that would be a killer track. The rapper just dropped a video for the single ‘Intervention’, from the recent EP, AGE 101: DROP 3|000. This is numero tres in a trilogy of similarly titled EPs that was released.
