December 5 the Fabricated Dreams loft event took place at 28on27 studio. During the initial hours of 6 to 9 DJ JESUS HIMSELF set the vibe for the pop shop. There was steady traffic of people vibing to the sounds HipHop, Jazz. Latin Funk, Soul, Dancehall Reggae spun DJ JESUS HIMSELF as they wonder around space checking out the several visual artists on display.
As to artist, one of the the visual artist on display included New York City based Artist Alison Evans. She grew up north of Boston and received her BFA in painting from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She loves to travel and doing so has had a great impact on her mentality as an artist. Her biggest inspirations are nature, dreams and surrealism. Alison’s work seeks to engage viewers through form and color while encouraging them to consider their relationship with the environment.
The next artist on display was Adriana Sharpe, whose Latin American roots inspired part of her artistic style. Regarding her art Adriana had this to say,
“new emotions awakened inside me. I began to let my emotions—a side that I never show because it was so intimate—transcend into my art. I paint with love I paint with sadness I paint with joy and sometimes with darkness. Each painting has a piece of soul; a memory forgotten in my mind that somehow crawls into my canvas to remind me of who I was and what should I become”.
As you look at the art on display, you can clearly see the emotions in canvas and Adrianna brings out some of the abstruse human emotions in her work.
The last artist on display was Artist Zulisha Alvarado, whose artistic style to me captured the colorful Zen like state of mind on a canvas. I notice much of work was not only very colorful; but also embodied eastern teachers like Siddhārtha Gautama, or simply the Buddha.
Fabricated Dreams Loft Event
As the event got started to get going, DJ D-Man from Washington heights took over the set and spun Hip hop and Latin mixes as the host got ready to introduce the several artist that was going to take the stage.
Rose D who is currently Producer for Lisa Evers on Hot 97 and also a co-host for Thisis50 has such an amazing personality did great job hosting the event.
