ART/MUSIC/FASHION by Eri Wonders

I had the privilege of visiting a Spoken Words showcase last night here in the city. I am a lover of poetry so I jumped on the opportunity to be a part of this collaboration of art and fashion. Not only was I there for the raw rhymes but I was also there to support a new line of clothing which is becoming trendy in its own skin.

Let’s start with the showcase. There were many talented faces amongst the crowd at the Fred Torres Gallery, located on West 28th St, NYC. The room was surrounded by canvases of flowers, stick figure-like paintings and even snow men. It’s nice to see art that looks so simple yet so complex in the making. The night started out with poetry/spoken words written and performed by people like Danny Matos, Eddie Soto, Julissa Rodriguez, Arah Sade, and Abram-Atafa. Their writings were so real and raw leaving you a bit teary eyed (in a good way) at some points. There was a also a performance by Rebecca Sol, just her and her acoustic guitar which I happened to love. The showcase was meant to display art, music and two clothing brands; Fabricated Lifestyles and Reves -N-Thieves.
